AIMCAL Defects Library

The AIMCAL Defects Library is the culmination of several years of effort by some of the top engineers and scientists in the web coating industry.
The work of these individuals, combined with contributions from leading associations and web inspection companies has resulted in a technical resource that will be a mainstay in every web coating environment for years to come.

The Defect Library is an innovative technical tool that provides greater standardization of terms for defect identification, assists the troubleshooting process to identify web defects, provides a visual and written characterization of typical defects, and ultimately provides a course of action for removing the defect from the manufacturing process.

In addition to the defects identified and characterized in the Defect Library, the capability is provided for individuals to customize their personal Library by entering their own defect records. These records are available only to the unique subscriber and are not available to other Defect Library subscribers.

The Defect Library is divided into five primary sections.

The Defect Records section provides a unique defect record by standard defect name. Information in the record includes other names commonly used to describe the defect, defect class, description and attributes, visual record, cause and action to eliminate. Thumbnail images of the defect can be enlarged for closer examination by simply clicking on the picture.

In the Image Classification section defects are organized by the defects image. Here, you can scan the images visually and click on any particular image to upload the full defect record.

In the Troubleshooting Guide, the user can effectively narrow the number of defect records in order to identify an unknown defect. By focusing on particular attributes of the defect in question, the Troubleshooting Guide narrows the number of possibilities, allowing for faster defect identification.

The Index/Search section allows users to search the full Library for keywords. This valuable resource allows the user to quickly scan the full database for information across all sections.

The Glossary is an alphabetical listing of the terms used in the Defect Library. It is cross referenced and contains graphics which help to define the terms and their usage in the converting industry.

Customize to fit your needs

The AIMCAL Defect Library can be easily customized to include defects specific to your manufacturing processes. These records provide an ongoing history of your unique product defects, including scanned images, and are accessible only to individuals who have access to your Library. Personal defect records are kept in a secure area accessible only to the username and password under which they were created.

How to order

The AIMCAL Defect Library is sold as a yearly subscription. The initial cost is $299 for year #1 and $149 per year thereafter. The Defect Library will be continuously updated with new information and capabilities all of which are included in the subscription price.
